I see that when Middlesex were 4/4 that the batsmen out all scored ducks
Cant recall any scoresheet that started with 0 0 0 & 0 .... 4 extras & two batsmen 0 n.o

Good to see runs for Handscomb, Bancroft & Harris as Ashes hopefuls on April pitches.

Middlesex have recovered from 4 - 4, to 36 - 5, in response to Essex's 266 all out. in the County Championship.

Rest? The season only starts tomorrow

Crawley is another one like Bairstow that McCullum has given an endorsement to.
To me given the brilliant form of Brook means Bairstow SHOULD wait his turn.
Serves him right for pissing about on a golf course

Agreed ED Crawley needs a rest

Re: NZ v England
All nice things to ponder, the fact remains that Baz has said he goes straight back into the team. So it's about where he plays, not if he should play.

Personally, I'd drop Crawley and let Stokes open, he's slinging his wicket away every innings, so maybe going up top will calm him down a bit, and he probably has the best defensive technique in the squad.

Westside 3:19 Tue Apr 4
Re: NZ v England
Bairstow's amazing test form with the bat, in his last 10 tests, pre injury, was not as a wicket keeper. He's only kept once in tests in the last 4 years or so. He actually averaged nearly 39, when keeping wicket. Can he average that now? Will he be in the same form post injury, even picked as a batsman only?

Foakes's batting average is 32.20. Crawley averages 27.60.

Re: NZ v England
Be Harsh on Foakes if he's the one to make way for Bairstow as he's a top keeper, when needed he always seems to steady the ship at 7 and bats well with he tail.

The selectors should emphasise the top three, that's where we look a little flaky, especially with Crawley's inability to play a ball that has even a hint of swing

Re: NZ v England
Yeah, I've always been a big advocate of Foakes, but giving what they're doing with this Test team, they are going to look at the pair of them, and who is more likely to win them a Test match. Bairstow's form was mental prior to that injury, and BAZ has already said he starts if fit.

Just so it don't get Sold0 hyperventilating, I'm not saying that's what they should do, I'm saying it's what I think they will do.

Lee Trundle 10:45 Tue Apr 4
Re: NZ v England
Eerie - they'd have point if Foakes batting has been shit. I might be wrong, but I think in every series Foakes has played in for England, he's been one of England's better BATTERS based on runs scored.

England seem obsessed with trying to find a way not to play him though.

Re: NZ v England
Baz ball at its finest. The Kent v Essex friendly was a washout for the first 2 days so I missed all those dot balls.

Eerie Descent 10:30 Tue Apr 4
Re: NZ v England
I'm not convinced it's definitely the best way to go Trunds, but his form before the injury means they was always going to have Bairstow in the team no matter what, and my point was if he doesn't open, who else do you drop?

I noticed Stokes bowled in the IPL, if he can bowl in the Ashes that does solve a lot of problems, but there's no way they can rely on that.

Re: NZ v England
Fucking bonkers decision if we're going to drop Foakes.

Makes us weaker for the Ashes. He'll be delighted, Eerie.
